Parents & Guardians:

Let me start by saying how much I appreciate all of the support from you at home.  This is not an easy transition for any of us, and it is incredibly overwhelming, but know that I am on the other end of the internet or phone able to help however I can.

Google Classroom: This will be the hub for 5th Grade Reading and Language Arts for students. This is where students will receive the bulk of the communication for assignments/feedback/grades. Students will be able to use private comments to reach me directly.  I will be able to view some of their assignments at the same time and help them through it. Your student is already connected to this and has used it all year long.  All online assignments will be turned in here.

Class Dojo: This will still operate as usual as a primary use for parents.  Feel free to contact me at any time. If you do not have home internet, Spectrum is running a free service for those who need it for school and we are currently looking into hotspots to help at home.  If you cannot connect to Google Classroom and need the assignments via Dojo to complete offline, I will do that on a case-by-case basis. Please let me know ASAP if this applies to you.

Contact hours: For now, this is a test run as I will shift these hours to best fit the needs of our fifth graders. At some point, we all have to divide where the school day begins and ends and I understand that it is different for everyone.  My plan is to set up office hours from 9:00am - 11:00am and 4:00pm - 6:00pm for any live response questioning or assistance (when I can answer them instantly) through either Google Classroom or Class Dojo.  HOWEVER, you can ask me questions at any time at all, but I may not answer instantaneously.

Thank you,

Mr. Cunningham

Google Classroom Communication

The number one way for me to actively help you is to utilize the Private Comments on Google Classroom.  You can do this by having the assignment on your screen and typing in the private comments box (underneath the instructions).  It can also be done directly from a Google Doc.
